This illustration style is photo illlustration, combining my own (and other) photography with other illustrated elements, sometimes in combination with design elements and custom typography. The illustrations shown are from the illustrated book HEARTWORK by Dale Goldstein, which details his method of inner transformation and self-realization.
Here I learn your editorial and creative concerns, and discuss your budget and the production time involved. An estimate of costs is submitted and agreed upon, and a deposit is sent to initiate work. Digital sketches are then submitted for your approval, and I move ahead on final artwork. The finished project is delivered to you or your publisher as digital files.
The choice between my traditional illustration or the photo-illustration is really one of personal preference. Some like the sense of reality (and perhaps hyper-reality) that the photographic approach provides; others feel that traditional artwork is warmer, and has a more personal and unique feel. Whichever style seems right for your project, we begin with a conversation.
